⁶ (And his father had not ^[a]rebuked him at any time by saying, “Why have you done so?” He was also very good-looking. ^(A)His mother had borne him after Absalom.) ⁷ Then he conferred with ^(B)Joab the son of Zeruiah and with ^(C)Abiathar the priest, and ^(D)they followed and helped Adonijah. ⁸ But ^(E)Zadok the priest, ^(F)Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, ^(G)Nathan the prophet, ^(H)Shimei, Rei, and ^(I)the mighty men who belonged to David were not with Adonijah.
